Deathly Hallows Cover
The cover art for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released today. So, I thought I would share because I'm just so damned excited about it. The release date is July 21st, and I can barely contain my schoolgirl-esque glee.

You seemed very you today. Or at least you seemed what I think that is.
Harry Potter, some how I'm not as excited as I have been in the past... And I quite dislike the UK children covers.

I don't think I'm as excited as I have been, but even a significant reduction of my HP excitement is still pretty damned excited by most people's standards. I guess a lot of it has to do with my inability to read for pleasure this last semester. Too much course reading and not enough of the stuff that I'm really interested in reading. Most of the stuff's been great, but sometimes you just need time to get into a Palahniuk or a Vonnegut to get away from the Established Literature(TM).
I like the UK text a lot better because it has all the British spelling and slang, but I miss the US artwork, especially the chapter pictures. I do know that I'm going to call into work if I happened to have a shift on release date. I plan on going through that bad boy in one continuous sitting as soon as I get back with it at midnight.
It's really a shame you have not had time to enjoy the fine feeling of enjoying non-established literature. This semester I've been fortunate to return to reading.
Yes. My best friend and I raged a war against our high school teachers just because we would end up writing 'colours' and 'favourite' and I still always write 'theatre' rather than 'theater'. Doesn't it just seem prettier? It does to me... I also once went through this British slang phase, for example, calling people snarky instead of sarcastic. I remember the first time I went to England I had ten tons of fun with the language. A whole bunch of silliness I suppose :)
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised you like Palahniuk, his writing is very strong but I find it very reaching and harsh half the time, though I would love to ever write anything as strong. Of course, I should read one of his books in its entirety before I critique his writing. As for Vonnegut, I somehow find his content more readable, I think because I comprehend the satirical stylizings of his work more.
My question for you is are you capable of enjoying any text that is VERY simple in nature and more light, the kind of thing one could enjoy at a younger age even? I don't know if I am making myself clear enough...

British spelling is a lot cooler. And I do tend to slip into the terminology from all the brit lit I read. I also do this chameleon thing where if I'm exposed to an accent for long enough, I adopt it in a quicker time than most would. It would happen to me a lot when I was playing in The Importance of Being Earnest. Listening to Eddie Izzard does the same thing to me too.
I enjoy all sorts of stuff. I prefer stuff that has some real meat to it, but I still do have a soft spot in my heart for the light stuff. There's some fantasy books that I harbor a pleasure for (there are a few Merlin series that I still adore). Most of the time I can just enjoy them, but sometimes I go into lit mode and start analyzing. Un/fortunate result of being an Englishy type student.
